Hispanic/Latino Participants Needed for Research on Aging Concerns, Challenges, and Everyday Solution Strategies (ACCESS)

Now recruiting older adult participants with long-term hearing challenges for the Aging Concerns, Challenges, and Everyday Solution Strategies (ACCESS) study. We especially want to engage the Hispanic community.

TechSAge, is funded by the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services. We are conducting a research study called ACCESS, which stands for Aging Concerns, Challenges, and Everyday Solution Strategies (ACCESS). This study explores the everyday activity challenges of older adults with long term vision, hearing, and mobility difficulties from various backgrounds. We are interested in understanding what the challenges are and how they manage these challenges as they age. Participation involves completing two questionnaires and an interview, which will take 2-3 hours total. The interview can be conducted by phone, video call, or in-person (if near research team). Participants will be compensated $50 in Amazon e-codes.

Participants in this research study must:

  • Be over age 60

  • Able to complete interview in spoken English via phone or Zoom video (with captions)

  • Live in the United States

  • Difficulty hearing (even with the use of a hearing aid).

  • Have had the hearing difficulty for at least 10 years.

  • Have hearing difficulty that affects performance of daily activities.

Why is this research being done?

This project seeks to understand how speech-language pathologists use interpretive services in medical settings and identify how speech-language pathologists (SLPs) use interpretive services across different medical settings.

How long will the research last and what will I need to do?

We expect that you will be in this research study for 15-30 minutes. You will be asked to complete an online survey about your experiences using spoken language interpretive services in your role as an SLP.

Hispanic/Latino Participants Needed for Research on Memory, Language, and Aging

Researchers from the University of Delaware are conducting a study examining language, cognition, aging, and the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. The research team is seeking greater participation from Hispanic/Latino adults, as these communities are often underrepresented in research related to aging and cognitive health.

Participants who qualify will complete memory and thinking assessments and health questionnaires (approximately 2 hours) and may participate in yearly memory testing either online or in person. Participants will receive $50 compensation and may choose to receive feedback about their memory test results.

Eligible participants must:

  • Be 60–90 years old

  • Read and speak English

  • Have no history of stroke, brain injury, or other brain disease

Your participation can help advance research on memory, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease and contribute to knowledge that may benefit future generations.
